Build a Mini Worm Farm

Latest Update 2nd February 2020.

I use these mini worm farms in my Ecobeds.  They are my entry points when adding new worms to their soil.

Usually I collect worms from around the garden, when planting or removing plants, and add them to the worm farm keeping them fed on organic waste from the kitchen.  Its an ideal place for worms to grow and lay eggs.

Every few months I relocate the mini worm farms to different places in the Ecobeds, and leave the contents behind to enrich the soil.  This is a real bonus for plants growing in the vicinity.
These mini worm farms are easily made from 90mm diameter PVC pipe.  I cut the pipe into 500mm long pieces and drill 4 x 40mm holes each in four columns down its sides (as shown in the top picture).

Sharp edges are smoothed around these holes so the worms don't get damaged when passing through.  The cap is a tight fit and provides security against predators and other pests.
